Gabriella Hámori

Gabriella Hámori, actress, winner of the Mari Jászai Prize and the Junior Prima Prize

Gabriella Hámori was born in 1978. After graduating from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest, she had the chance to work at various prominent theatres including the Pesti Theater, the Comedy Theater (Vígszínház) and the Radnóti Theater. Currently, she is a member of the Örkény Theater’s ensemble.

She had lived in Berlin, New York and Los Angeles for nearly four years where she took part in numerous theater and film productions. During this period, she was also performing with the Szputnyik Hajózási Társaság in Germany.

Since 2003, she is continuously playing in Hungarian and international feature films and series. Her list of films include the multiple prize-winner Station (director: Csaba Vékes), The Exam (director: Péter Bergendy), for which she received the Best Actress award both at the Film Policier de Liége Festival and the Gotham Screen International Film Festival in New York. Additionally, she played in the films Eszter’s Inheritance (director: József Sipos), Chameleo (director: Kriszta Goda) and Budapest (director: Walter Carvalho).

In the spring of 2019, she is playing a role in Gorky’s The Lower Depths directed by Tamás Ascher in the Örkény Theatre.

Besides acting, she is also a successful singer. Her first album, which was recorded in 2014, was a big success in Hungarian and international radios. Gabriella speaks excellent English and German as well as French on a basic level.
