Ákos Orosz

Ákos Orosz, actor, Junior Prima Prize laureate

Ákos Orosz was born in 1985. Following his graduation from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in 2008, he became the leading actor of the Maladype Theater. He has played a number of important roles since he joined the company of the Vígszínház (Comedy Theater) in 2015. In 2018, he also directed a play. He frequently participates in international festivals and workshops.

He played in around 20 films, including Made in Hungaria, Heavenly Shift, #Sohavégetnemérős (#Neverending), Son of Saul, Brazilok (Brazilians), and Eternal Winter. He also had a role in the short film Provincia, which was in the Cannes Film Festival’s competition program. He often does voice acting, too.

Besides the Junior Prima Prize, he was also awarded the Imre Soós Imre Prize, and in 2011, he won the Theater Critics’ Award in the category of Most Promising New Talent.

Directors love his strong and energetic character. He always works on his projects with a huge enthusiasm. He loves sports – he had boxed as a hobby for 5 years. He learned stunts several times from his stuntmen colleagues to prepare for his fighting scenes, the most recent example being the emblematic fencing scene from Hamlet.

He speaks excellent English and German. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to work in Romanian and Russian plays as well as to play a character with a German accent in an English-speaking film.

As a founding member of the bands Ká Blues Band, Aszittem and Karamazov, he is also branching out to music. He plays the harmonica, the guitar and various percussion instruments.
